Two young men from Chalcho village in Dibate district, Metekel zone, Benishangul-Gumuz Region were executed by ENDF in January 2022. They had been detained in Galesa town police station for two days before being taken to Gipo forest. The video shows the men being walked into the forest with their hands tied behind their backs, being told to stand still and being shot in the back of the head. Agence France-Presse fact-checked the video and found it to have been taken in Metekel zone, Benishangul-Gumuz region, Ethiopia.

About 700 Oromo and Somali migrants were rounded up and taken to Nagad detention centre prior to deportation. It was reported that those with asylum-seeker status or refugee status were released but this was not confirmed. One man fleeing from police was killed by criminals on 5 May.
